Tired Of Receiving Promotional Text Messages From MTN & GLO? Here's how to stop it
Not just MTN, even GLO, Airtel and Etisalat all send promotional messages. But the most annoying of them all is MTN. I receive more than 10 text messages from them everyday, some are repeated.
While expecting a text from your bae only for you to receive a message from 5032 or any other number.
Well, we have a solution to both Glo and MTN. The MTN case is quite easy.
All you need to do is Send Stop to 33111. They won't charge you for the SMS.
You'll be replied with a message: You will be removed from our campaign database within 24hrs. Thank you.
For Glo subscribers who no longer have interest in receiving the texts should follow the instructions below...
If you use a smart phone, this can be handled easily with SMS/call blockers.
When I used Blackberry I handled it with Call Control for Blackberry.
Now on Android I use Go SMS pro to screen SMS.
Just long press on the sms and the menu pops up, select, "Add to blacklist".
You can also use the stock SMS app. Long press on the message to get the menu, select "Register number as spam" and confirm.
For Calls from those funny Glo and Airtel numbers, you can use 3rd party apps from Play Store e.g. Call Control for Android. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flexaspect.android.everycallcontrol&hl=en ).
Just Add the numbers to blacklist and turn on blacklist function. You can also blacklist numbers with your default call/contact app on Android by Long pressing on any number and select "Add to reject list".
I hope this helps. Cheers.
